Customs Broker Sim is an independent study resource for people sitting the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Customs Broker License Examination (CBLE). Our one job is to build the skill that actually decides this open-book exam: finding the governing citation fast in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations (19 CFR), with correct, current, sourced information and a free trainer, not a sales pitch.

Who runs it

Customs Broker Sim is operated by Urban Algorithm LLC and maintained by the Customs Broker Sim editorial team. We are an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or administered by CBP, the Department of Homeland Security, or any prep-course provider or trade association, and we never imply otherwise. When we name the exam, the agency, or a reference work, it is for accuracy, not to suggest a partnership that does not exist. We do not administer the exam and we cannot issue a customs broker license.

Our editorial standards

These are the rules that govern every exam fact and figure we publish. They are the reason a page here can be trusted the day you read it.

Every figure is sourced and dated

Exam format, passing score, fee, and dates each cite the CBP primary source and carry a visible last-reviewed date. A stale figure teaches a wrong answer, so provenance is not optional.

Checked against the primary source

We confirm each fact directly against the CBP customs-broker pages and stamp it with the date we last checked it, rather than carrying numbers forward on trust from a secondary blog.

Confirmed vs reported, never blurred

Where CBP does not publish a number, we say so and label commonly cited figures as reported, not official, rather than dressing them up as fact.

No faked credibility signals

No invented pass-rate statistics, no fake reviews, no claimed affiliation, and never a guaranteed-pass claim. Corrections are welcome and we fix errors quickly.

How we handle the corpus, and how we write questions

The HTSUS and 19 CFR are works of the United States Government and are in the public domain. We do not host or bulk-republish them: the trainer drills their structure, which chapter, part, note, or rule governs, and links out to the official text at hts.usitc.gov and ecfr.gov so you always read the authoritative version. Every practice question and drill task is original, written from the public exam blueprint and the underlying statutory, regulatory, and tariff structure, which are facts and not copyrightable. Nothing is copied or reworded from CBP question papers, any course provider, or any competitor bank. Original questions are a legal-safety and accuracy standard we hold ourselves to, not a marketing claim.
